and why it’s easier than you think!
Written by Mituri Pradip Sharma
Nature is such a buzzword at the moment. And for good reason too.
Though humans may just be getting back into their natural groove, if there’s one thing that’s been constant throughout the ages, it’s Mother Nature. Even if we’re just catching onto the next big Natural fad, unlike many of us and our natural ability to stray from one true focus (hey, we’re only human!), Nature remains steadfast and committed to her one true purpose and that is to be as glorious and robust as she is.
Luckily for us, this drive is one that she shares plentifully and bountifully with all her living children with one small condition. We need to have the patience and sincerity to listen and trust in her ancient and extremely experienced wisdom. If you’re anything like me, you’re a nature buff.
I would much rather find a natural solution to problems I face instead of rushing off to see my doctor immediately. Having said this though, it is important to note that I am in no way encouraging the disuse of allopathic options nor do I wish to discredit medical advancements or the profession of modern day medicine.
Allopathic medicine certainly has its place in the modern world and in many cases is not a luxury but a necessity so please don’t go and throw away all your prescribed medicines or change your lifestyle without first consulting your medical practitioner.
What I would like to do with this article is introduce you to the wonderful world of natural remedies and the use of them as possible complementary forms of keeping ourselves healthy rather than as replacements If this sounds like some fun then let’s go on with some easy natural additions you can start making to you and your families lives right now!
Natural Morning Detox Routine
Want a fresh Morning routine to keep arthritis and inflammation at bay? Combine a decent amount of organic turmeric powder into a glass of milk and bring it to boil. Make sure you also add some pepper into the concoction (this adds to the absorption of nutrients) and honey if you dislike the taste of turmeric and drink every morning. This is an ancient Ayurvedic treatment used in India for centuries to stay healthy and fit for as long as you live and best of all, it’s easy as 1,2,3 - literally!.
Struggling to lose some weight in time for the summer weather? In a warm glass of water, mix a tablespoon of organic lemon juice (preferably freshly squeezed) and mix with a tablespoon of honey and drink before you eat your breakfast. Not only does this aid in your weight loss efforts, it also gives you great skin which is an added bonus. I know, how generous is Mother Nature?
Just can’t kick the sugar fix you love so much? (How to keep fit)
Trust me, I hear you! I love my sugar.
There I said it - I can’t help it. Though I love to stay healthy, I’m also a firm believer that life is a gift and should be enjoyed so I like to find a balance between treating my body as a temple and allowing my emotions to soar as well and sugar is definitely a declared weakness when it comes to my taste buds. Enter the wonderful world of Jaggery.
Jaggery, also referred to as Panela, is made from sugarcane and the date palm tree. Found in South East Asia, jaggery is a common household ingredient in India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
Jaggery is a great natural substitute for sugar and is also better for those who are attempting weight loss, available in a variety of shades ranging from a golden light brown to dark brown.
The many health benefits of jaggery include, but are not limited to:
- The treatment of anaemia, purifying blood, the prevention of pimples and acne and all while promoting healthy skin and hair.
- Relieving premenstrual symptoms and assisting in muscle soreness, cramps and pain.
- Jaggery may also be useful in preventing pregnancy anaemia.
- Reducing water retention in the body as it combats excessive salt intake in our diets while cleansing
- Relaxing blood vessels to assist in maintaining blood pressure and relaxing nerves and muscles to relieve migraines
- Acts as an antioxidant while reducing respiratory ailments such as asthma, bronchitis and more by maintaining a clean respiratory tract.
Just sprinkle some Jaggery into your tea and coffee, yoghurt or cereal and enjoy that sugar hit without the associated calories and guilt of jaggery’s evil twin!
Are you convinced? (How to keep fit)
There are many more wonderful natural remedies out there and this article is just the tip of the iceberg. I hope I’ve managed to whet your appetite for Nature when it comes to taking care of your health - in fact, I’d go as far as to suggest that nature and optimum health are synonymous with one another. If you’re feeling inspired to adopt Nature into more of your lifestyle.
