Sumac & Berry Smash

Written by Kevin Kapusi Starow

One of my favourite types of fruit is berries, especially when they are in season, not like the strawberries which are available year round. They seldom need much to accompany them, though from time to time a little help helps to enhance their impact.\ such as in this recipe for Sumac & Berry Smash.

This recipe for Sumac & Berry Smash is one of those recipes, the sumac certainly adds something which makes the berries pop. This recipe is more of a put-together than a traditional recipe. It is simple enough for even the most time-challenged people and is guaranteed to impress any guest or love interest.

Sumac & Berry Smash is suitable for all ages, and should be enjoyed only with fresh fruit.

  • 200 gm Plain Yoghurt
  • Maple Syrup Meringues
  • Sumac

  • To be honest there is no real method to this dessert, I love to layer the various ingredients in a bowl, adding a little of each over two layers in a large glass bowl or dish. I have also had great success making this in a variety of jars, just to add a little difference to the dish. Feel free to experiment with it yourself, and see what you come up with.

Let’s Make a Difference

Every day we have the opportunity to make hundreds of choices. We are so fortunate to live in a time where information is so easily accessible and we have the opportunity and freedom to make choices that we feel are the best for us and our families.

I encourage you to continue educating yourself and others about the benefits of living a plant-based lifestyle. Cook a plant-based meal, opt-out of products like leather, watch a documentary with a family member or friend. It’s easy to feel like the choices we make are small, but when we make these choices together, we can make a big difference!
